St Francis College participated in a provincial Under-15 Mini-World Cup Tournament as part of the KZN’s development initiative ahead of the Netball World Cup which will take place in Cape Town from the 28th of July to the 6th of August 2023. The tournament was held at the Hoy Park, Durban recently. There were various schools that were participating in the event representing different districts in the Province of KwaZulu-Natal. Westville Girls High and St Francis College were the only schools that represented the Pinetown District at the tournament. According to the school’s Netball Co-ordinator Ms Mdabe, the tournament was exciting for our learners in that it exposed them to a real sporting environment where different sporting codes were played. “We are privileged to have taken part in the tournament and it motivated our learners”, said Ms Mdabe, adding that we were privileged” to have been selected to represent the province in a such tournament”. Meanwhile, a Netball player at the school, Afikile Sithole, said the tournament taught us a lot and that we need to always to work hard on our game”, adding that as a team they were highly excited to play with other teams from other districts.
